"This book is one of the better ones - that try to teach lessons to children about self-esteem and kindness. But I don't think Grandma explains it that well. She used a few examples and Jack responds exactly how the author wants but that does not reflect a real child's opinion. I think the young reader would be confused and also think Jack is a strange bird. For him to go through this with Grandma, I think his upset prior should be stronger - like he got in trouble at home or hit another child etc. I did like the suggestion to have the child reader do their own self assertion exercises after reading the book."
